On Aug 2nd 2002, while doing security for a horror and sci fi con. I was priviledged to meet Mr. Ben Chapman, THE Creature From the Black Lagoon. Ive never been to a convention and had no idea he'd be there. And what an absolute honor as the film was the first horror film Id ever seen and my personnal favorite. Ben, thanks for the picture and when my kids are older and I watch the movie with them Ill say, "I met The Creature From the Black Lagoon."

When I had 8 years old, I fall in love with a little plastic toy for fishbowls: a fish-faced, green, underwater monster. I dont know what kind of monster was that, but I like it. I never could buy it. Several years after, I saw "The Creature from..."... then I meet Gill Man...
Just for seconds, I returned to the old fishstore and had 8 years old again.

I've been a horror movie fan for thirty-eight years, and I have seen them all, and The Creature of the Black Lagoon is the absolute best. When compared with any thing done today, The Creature is just as fresh now as it was 48 years ago, when it was released. I am truely inspired by the artistry of this movie, so much so, that I have an interpretation of The Creature tattooed on my leg. I appreciate the work you did in the movie, and I am glad you still keep The Creature alive in your spirit.
Always a Fan,
Evil

Hello Mr. Chapman. I was at the Flashback Weekend in Chicago and was very pleased to have met you and get your autograph on the drawing of the Gillman that I had from the Universal Monsters Portfolio. Several of my friends are quite jealous of it. I'll be framing it tomorrow to go on my wall of fame. Thank you.
